EDITOR'S REVIEW
The Omega Speedmaster Mark II is a tribute to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, inspired by the 1969 model of the same name. Featuring various Olympic-themed details that will have its wearer reminisce about the world’s greatest sporting event, the Rio 2016 watch remains true to much of the original vintage design. As with the 1969 model, the Rio 2016 has a barrel-shaped stainless steel case with a polished crown and pushers. Its matte black dial is protected by flat, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and features a 30-minute recorder at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour recorder at 6 o’clock, and a small seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock. The sub-dials are decorated with a bronze ring, a yellow gold ring, and a silver ring in honour of the Olympic medals. This limited edition watch also features a transparent tachymeter scale illuminated from beneath, is water resistant to 100 metres, and has a screw-in caseback stamped with the logo of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Powered by an Omega calibre 3330, the watch is equipped with an Si14 silicon balance spring and a Co-Axial escapement with three levels. With only 2,016 pieces of this model being produced, it is the ultimate collectable for fans of the 2016 Olympic Games.
