During the Apollo 8 lunar orbit NASA astronaut Jim Lovell dispelled popular beliefs about the Moon being white and reporting that “the Moon is essentially grey.” Omega pays tribute to the true colour of our favourite satellite with this Grey Side of the Moon chronograph crafted from grey ceramic. The sand-blasted platinum dial recreates the texture of fine Moon dust and a generous application of Super-LumiNova covers the indices and hands on the dial and, even more strikingly, the numbers and markings on the grey ceramic tachymetric scale have also been filled with luminescent material that glows green in the dark. The 44.25mm grey ceramic case houses Omega’s Co-Axial calibre 9300 with a 60-hour power reserve, and the watch is presented on a grey leather strap with red stitching on the interior to match the Speedmaster logo and the tip of the central seconds hand on the dial.
