EDITOR'S REVIEW
The Omega Speedmaster Professional was the watch worn by astronaut Buzz Aldrin on his epic Moon walk in July 1969. Omega is understandably proud of being a small part of this historic event, indeed this Omega watch is the only piece of equipment still used by NASA in all of its manned space missions. With a 42mm stainless steel case, the watch is immediately recognisable with its black dial, iconic tachymetre scale on the black bezel and green luminescence. Equipped with a central chronograph hand, the dial features a small seconds subdial as well as 30-minute and 12-hour counters and is protected by a hesalite crystal. Using almost the same Omega manual-winding movement, calibre 1861, that went to the Moon and back, this chronograph watch has a power reserve of up to 48 hours. The watch is worn on a stainless steel bracelet or a black leather alligator strap and comes in a special Moonwatch presentation box complete with a Velcro strap like the one used by astronauts.
