EDITOR'S REVIEW
This watch is no longer available.
Few watches have travelled to the Moon and back and even fewer - one to be precise - can claim to be the first to have done so. It was the Omega Speedmaster, worn on the wrist of Buzz Aldrin, that, 45 years ago, made this groundbreaking journey, and to celebrate this remarkable voyage, Omega has released the Speedmaster Professional Apollo 11 Chronograph. A limited-edition model of only 1,969 timepieces, it is a fitting tribute to the first lunar landing. Crafted from titanium, the 42mm round case houses a grey/black PVD laser cut dial, a new technique that cuts the sub-dials, minute track and brand name with unrivalled precision. The monochrome dial is punctuated with the subtle hues of rose gold indexes and hour and minute hands. A rose gold frame encircles the black ceramic tachymeter bezel, creating an understated and refined aesthetic. The chronograph's trio of sub-dials display the 12 hour, 60 minute and small seconds. Honouring a legendary moment in history, the Omega Speedmaster Professional Apollo 11 45th Anniversary watch is powered by the same manual-winding Calibre 1861 of the original Speedmaster, which provides a 42-hour power reserve and water resistance up to 50m. The watch is presented on a brown NATO nylon strap, the same fabric that has been used by Omega on its military watches since the 1950s.
