EDITOR'S REVIEW
The Radiomir forged Panerai's identity as a professional dive watch with superior luminosity, for underwater commandos in the Italian Navy. In 2015, the iconic Radiomir was edited in a new, lightweight titanium case. The classic cushion-shaped case and its lugs are crafted in two different types of titanium for additional contrast. The case band is made of grade 2 titanium - which is 40% lighter than steel - and resistant to corrosion, while the bezel and crown are made from grade 5 titanium, polished to contrast with the case. Like its famous predecessor, the brown dial of the watch is made in the characteristic sandwich construction developed by Panerai to increase its luminosity. The application of ecru SuperLumiNova on the Arabic numerals, hands and hour markers gives the dial a great vintage appeal. Equipped with in-house calibre P.4000, the movement features a decentralised tungsten micro-rotor enabling the watch to accumulate sufficient energy for three days. Water-resistant to 100 metres, the 45mm watch comes with a brown buffalo leather strap.
