EDITOR'S REVIEW
Sports cars and watches go hand in hand and Parmigiani Fleurier has enjoyed a long partnership with Bugatti releasing new watches in tandem with the car maker's novelties. When the Bugatti Chiron supercar was launched at the beginning of 2016, Parmigiani Fleurier unveiled this impressive Bugatti Type 390 Concept Watch. The unique architecture of the watch emulates the configuration of a sports car and the movement, like a car’s engine, is housed in a cylindrical structure at the top of the case separate from the dial, which is displayed in the flat cockpit area for optimum legibility. If you look closely at the movement you will spot the signature of legendary racing driver Louis Chiron engraved on the two barrels. The energy from the barrel is transmitted to the escapement via a series of planetary gears. In addition to the one-minute flying tourbillon located on the left end of the cylinder, there is a power reserve on the right to let you know how much petrol is left in the tank. As a concept watch the price of this machine has as yet to be revealed but expect it to reach six-figures, a drop in the ocean if you have already bought your Bugatti Chiron hypercar.
