EDITOR'S REVIEW
This bold necklace not only makes a strong style statement, but also a socially responsible one too. The necklace, which is from the Shah collection, comprises lapis lazuli cut into large diamond shapes, connected by gold-plated silver fittings, and one moon-shaped lapis lazuli at the fish-hook fastening. The necklace has been made by a team of craftspeople in Afghanistan for the Pippa Small Turquoise Mountain ethical jewellery project, led by the British jewellery designer. Each person working in the project has been trained by Small, and the jewellery they make, which is sold all over the world, provides a reliable revenue stream for people who have been left with little opportunity to support themselves in this war-torn country.
