Turquoise Mountain gold-plated multicoloured gemstone necklace

This colourful gemstone necklace from the Shah collection, in gold-plated silver, showcases the traditional craft of Tunis chain - a method of creating chain by linking together hammered circles. Breaking up the double strand of chain is a selection of gems that includes amethysts, aquamarines, kunzites and tourmalines. The necklace was made by hand in Afghanistan as part of ethical jewellery project Pippa Small Turquoise Mountain. The group of craftspeople have been trained by the British jeweller, whose following across the globe provides a reliable revenue stream to help this burgeoning business, and gives Afghans the chance to support themselves through commerce.
