The sudden popularity of long-haul travel in the early 1950s led Rolex to develop the original GMT-Master watch, which allowed airline pilots to simultaneously read two time zones on one watch. The red-blue bezel of the now iconic timepiece was an essential design feature, the two disparate colours providing ultimate legibility. The two-tone bezel has reappeared in a number of colour combinations since, but none is more celebrated than the original red-blue. As a tribute, Rolex has relaunched this iconic model with the Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II with a Cerachrom 'Pepsi' bezel. Presented with the same 40mm white gold case, Rolex has uses patent-pending technology to create the two-tone effect on one single piece of ceramic, a technical tour de force. The silky black lacquered dial features a large date aperture, appliqué luminescent indices and white gold hour, minute and second hands, while the prominent GMT arrow hand is picked out with a tonal red shaft and a luminescent head. The Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II with a Cerachrom 'Pepsi' bezel is powered by a classic Calibre 3186 movement and presented on a brushed and polished Rolex Oyster link strap.
