EDITOR'S REVIEW
The imagination of Silvia Furmanovich is as rich as the natural resources of her home country of Brazil. Renowned for her ability to mix high and low materials with super-luxurious results, she won the Couture Innovation Award in 2015 for suspending nature in time with her spectacular orchids-dipped-in-resin and diamond earrings. This year, she took home the prize for her beautifully realized and minutely patterned trompe l'oeil "gemstone" bracelet. Using naturally colored woods from the Amazonian rainforest, the inlaid patterns are created by expert local craftsmen and mixed with soft green prasiolites to spectacular effect.
