Solange Azagury-Partridge’s fondness for word play inspired the attention-grabbing name, but the Ball Crusher ring is an elegant jewel that would make a fabulous and unique engagement ring for an offbeat bride. Black lacquer-tipped gold claws delicately grip a large golden South Sea pearl in this ring, which is also available in a darker incarnation with a black Tahitian pearl held in the clutches of five red lacquered nails. The former creative director of Boucheron set up her eponymous jewellery brand in 1990 and, despite her phenomenal success, she remains true to her original motto: “I just want my jewels to add a bit of joy to life”.
