Danger can be beautiful, a juxtaposition vividly captured in this scorpion brooch by Italian jewellery house Vhernier. This poisonous insect is one of Vhernier’s growing menagerie of Animalier brooches. Vhernier is known for its contemporary designs with a sense of surprise and dash of Italian style. Using the "trasparenza" technique of layering stones to create brilliant colour effects, the scorpion’s carapace is formed from black mother-of-pearl topped with rock crystal carved with lifelike realism. His diamond-tipped stinger and powerful claws are set with diamonds using the house’s two-point diamond setting for a smooth finish and maximum brilliance.
