Inspired by the textures and antique surfaces of European art and architecture, Victor Velyan is fascinated with metallurgy and in creating his own unique patinas. Working from his design studio in Los Angeles, Velyan allows his rare coloured gemstones to bask in their own light. This yellow gold ring features a stunning cabochon-cut black opal illuminated by a yellow gold and diamond setting and is a devastatingly beautiful example of Velyan's approach to jewellery design.
