EDITOR'S REVIEW
Yannis Sergakis is the descendant of a well-established family of Greek diamond traders. He was drawn into the alluring world of precious stones as a child, spending hours observing his uncles in their showroom. He began trading jewels just like them, but after a while he realized that his true passion was not collecting but creating jewelry. He set up his own business in 2004 and has worked exclusively with diamonds and gold ever since. His Charnieres collection employs a unique setting for diamonds; they are set deep inside the mounting, and the outer metal is pushed over the edges of the stones to create a strip that holds them in place. This, in turn, is rhodium-plated to dramatic effect. With this technique, Yannis creates timeless, deceptively simple tapestries of diamonds and gold such as these beautifully crafted earrings, which took home the prize for Diamonds under $20,000 at the 2016 Couture Awards.
