|In our role of providing leading commentary on the jewels that appear on the red carpet, we couldn't miss out on the chance to get hands-on with the winning jewels of the Academy Awards 2014. So we sent our Los Angeles guest editor for awards season, Rachel Garrahan, to get up close and personal with the Chopard jewels that Cate Blanchett wore to collect her Oscar for her role in 'Blue Jasmine'.
Raffaella Rossiello, International Communications Director of Chopard, talks us through Cate Blanchett's choice of jewels and how she chose the chandelier-style opal earrings, brown diamond bracelet and diamond ring to go with her intricately decorated gown. We have a good look at the earrings up close and find out how Cate Blanchett put together her look.
And it seems that Chopard jewels bring good luck as both Cate Blanchett and Matthew McConaughey wore Chopard, in his case a white gold Chopard L.U.C. watch on his wrist when he collected his Oscar for 'Dallas Buyer's Club'. Chopard also brought luck to Cate Blanchett at the BAFTAs, Golden Globes and SAGs, where, in a winning streak, she also picked up awards. Last year, Jennifer Lawrence wore Chopard to the Academy Awards and triumphed for her role in 'Silver Linings Playbook'.
We also look at the Chopard jewels worn by Penélope Cruz, see Lupita Nyong'o in Fred Leighton, Amy Adams in Tiffany & Co. and Jennifer Lawrence in a 100 carat diamond necklace from Neil Lane and a US$1 million coloured diamond ring. And of course, no round up of stunning Academy Awards jewels would be complete without showing Charlize Theron's US$15 million Harry Winston diamond necklace.
