The watch of the Oscars

A proud Colin Firth embraces his wife Livia Giuggioli showing to advantage his Chopard L.U.C. XPS white gold watch

Colin Firth's choice of wrist wear for the Oscars was a Chopard. By doing so, he has made the Chopard LUC XPS the watch of the Oscars. The Chopard L.U.C. XPS, as worn by Colin Firth to collect his award for his role in "The King's Speech" is the  watch of the Oscars.  I am sure Firth had a whole suitcase to chose from but this white gold watch with a simple dial is very much him and the choice of the low-key gentleman. This ultra-slim watch, first launched in 2006,  has a mechanical movement and is wound by the movement of the wrist, as are all so called 'automatic' watches. Once fully wound the watch will keep going for almost three days thanks to its twin barrels that store the energy. Firth looks very much at ease with this wrist on his watch that I do hope he is going to keep on wearing it. Once he is back from LA, I will look out for him in Chiswick, just down the road from me.
