Newly Refurbished V&A showcases Queen Victoria's coronet

The V&A Museum re-opens its refurbished jewellery gallery at the heart of which is Queen Victoria's coronet recently donated to the museum.

Following an extensive refurbishment of the jewellery gallery at the V&A Museum, Queen Victoria’s sapphire and diamond coronet is now on permanent public display for the first time as the centrepiece of the William and Judith Bollinger Gallery along with eighty new pieces including 49 Art Deco vanity cases on loan from Kashmira Bulsara in memory of her brother Freddie Mercury.

    Queen Victoria's sapphire and diamond coronet will be at the centre of the refurbished jewellery gallery at the V&A, purchased through the generosity of the Bollinger family in 2017. It was designed by Prince Albert for Queen Victoria in 1840. 
  • 1975 Paddington Bear gold pendant from Cartier
    Showing a wide range of jewellery style, this gold pendant in form of Paddington Bear by Cartier, London, 1975 was given in memory of James Doherty by Clive Kandel.
  • 1925 Cartier gold vanity case
    A gold vanity case with 'laque burgauté panels by Cartier, Paris circa 1925. It is on loan and a promised gift from Kashmira Bulsara in memory of her brother Freddie Mercury and featured in the book 'A Kind of Magic' about the collection.
